Kayaking

|
When it rains, Wilson Creek Gorge is one of the best Kayaking runs in the Southeast for the EXPERIENCED kayaker. It has several Class III and IV drops and is interesting from the normal put-in (3.1 miles north of the Adako Road) to the normal take-out (1.4 miles north of the Adako Road). Although the Gorge has been run at it's lowest water levels, the best runs are when the visual gage below the Adako Bridge reads between 4 inches above zero to 4 inches below zero. When the visual gage at the Adako Bridge is above 6 under zero, one can go in Class I water from the Visitor Center (5.3 miles north of the Adako Road) to the Craig Creek Bridge (4.5 miles north of the Adako Road) and then in Class II water from the Craig Creek Bridge to the normal put-in. THESE RUNS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO KAYAKING. Please go to www.explorecaldwell.com/wilsoncreek.html or www.boatingbeta.com/runs/Wilsongorge.html for more information.
